PCOS, SLE are the typical conditions for which aciclovir is used, and there are currently no approved treatments for these conditions.
PCOS is a chronic skin disease that can cause facial and body hair growth and scarring in women. Women with PCOS are more likely to have a high risk of SLE than men. A study found that women who were more than 35 years of age with high SLE risk (defined as having a high SLE risk score of at least 6) had an average onset of SLE within one year of treatment.
Affected WomenWomen who take valaciclovir may experience side effects such as skin rashes, itching, or blisters. The onset of these symptoms may be delayed compared to those who do not take valaciclovir.
